In reply to Sander. Depends on the day. If it's weekend, you might have some trouble finding the ticket for the same day or the next day. If it's a working day, than no problems. In the worst case scenario you can take a long distance bus, if available for your trip. Have a pleasant trip and stay safe!

It's always the same and the time of departure arrival is also always the same unless there is some repair going on or accident. So, checking today the ticket price and available departure arrival dates can help you plan your trip later.

In reply to Marisa. Standing tickets you can buy at the train station because they have that a lot, but other types are probably already sold out for your day. It all depends on what day you need. If it's friday to Sunday, it's probably sold out. On other days you can buy almost any ticket. And please learn some chinese so you can easily check ticket availability on 12306.cn

Hi, little bit late but i still have a question.

I’m going to china this summer and going to beijing, xi’an, chengdu, kunming, lijiang, zhangjiajie, fenghuang, yangshou and ending in hongkong.

Do i need to buy tickets in advance? because i won’t like to book in advance and just want to go when i’m feeling to go.
