Didi must have changed their app. i downloaded it to my phone months ago. went to try it out today before my trip and it changed all of the writing to chinese. i deleted it from my phone and went to google play to download again and it says it is not compatible with my phone.

HI thanks for your useful tips and articles. I’ve tried to download didi, from France, but the app page on Google play store tells me it’s not compatible with my devices (i have a Samsung s8 which isn’t that old) are there any geographical restrictions for the download? Do you know any other app i could try instead?

In reply to rajat. If this is the case for you, you have downloaded the China-region version of the app. Downloading the US-version or the European-version of the app doesn't require a Chinese SIM card.

The problem with DID may be how to activate the app without having a china sim. even if i try to look for wechat activation it fails in going further because of foreign number

are there any taxi meter companies that have better reputation in shanghai and Beijing that you recommend such as blue bird in Jakarta or vina sun in ho chi min? or all taxi companies are relatively the same?

The english version of didi now allows yOu to type in your lOcation and destination in english. It also gives you options of messages in english that automatically get translaTed into chinese when yOu send them from the app.
